Search Tips

FHOP has employed the Google Search tool to help you find documents on our site and on the world wide web. Once you've found your documents, you can use the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl-F, to find the specific locations of your search terms within the document.

Step One: Find the Document(s)
Step Two: Find the Specific Mentions of Your Search Terms within the Document(s) you've found.

Find the Document(s)

1. Enter search term(s) in box above.
2. Click the Search button.

Search Term Examples
Ex.: fetal alcohol

This search will return all documents with the terms fetal and alcohol in them.

To ensure that a particular phrase appears, use quotation mark to offset the phrase. Ex: "fetal alcohol"

This search will return all documents with the term "fetal alcohol".

Find the Specific Mentions of Your Search Terms

1. From the list of search results, click on the item that you are interested in. 2. You will either open another webpage, a pdf format document, or a Microsoft Office document. (If you have trouble opening a document type, please refer to the FAQ/Help page.)
3. When you've reached your destination and the document is fully loaded, you can use the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl-F, to utilize the document "Find" tool.
(Ctrl-F = Click both the Ctrl button and the "F" button at the same time.)
4. The Find box will appear.
5. Input the search term that you wish to find.
(This tools has somewhat limited functionality. It will only find one instance of your term at a time, so you may have to "Find" the term multiple times until you've located the information you are looking for.)
